This year, the “Power Dinners” will offer a brand new feature format called “Revolutions.” During the dinner, from one course of the meal to the next, our honored guests will move to different tables allowing them and you to meet with more advertisers during this fun social event. The price of the dinner, available to member newspaper conference registrants only, is $65.00. These dinners have traditionally sold out, so reserve your seat now by registering for the conference at mediaxchange.naa.org.

Imagine telling your boss who you had dinner with in Orlando.

Ten Things Advertising Executives Should do at MediaXchange 2010

    1. Sign up early for the Tuesday evening “Power Dinner” with your advertising customers. Very limited availability and first come first served to meet socially with 20 of your advertisers at one event.
    2. Attend the Wednesday afternoon roundtable sessions with advertisers. This is the most popular session annually so come early and be prepared.
    3. Advertisers this year are being provided with private suites for one on one meetings with newspapers. We expect 20-25 advertisers to use this new approach to individual meetings. Make appointments in advance for times with these customers.
    4. Sessions. They are good. Try to budget your time at mediaxchange so you can learn how others are growing revenue in these challenging times.
    5. Visit the vendors in the exhibit area. You need to keep up with the latest and these vendors have lots of knowledge about what is working beyond just what they are selling.
    6. Make time to network. Renew old acquaintances, make new ones, commiserate, share, and celebrate. There is no place else where so many of your colleagues congregate.
    7. Tracks. The Mediaxchange conference is broken into several session tracks. Don’t forget that some relevant topics are in tracks other than revenue.
    8. Walk. The halls are full of old friends, customers, vendors, and more. Wandering can be a great way to catch up.
    9. Ask lots of questions. Write some of them down before you come. Sure you’ll add more once you arrive but write don ten you’d love to get answered in advance and you are more likely to get good answers. I once watched Don Graham of the Washington Post masterfully work a reception pulling out a 3x5 card with questions he asked everyone. You’ll be amazed what you get.
    10. Keynotes. We are lucky to have several exciting and relevant general session speakers. Work those sessions into your schedule.
