"Newspapers Now," a curriculum guide and matching in-paper features for NIE Week 2009, will be posted on the NAA Foundation Web site (www.naafoundation.org) in early January. Written by Sherrye Garrett, Ed.D., "Newspapers Now" emphasizes the basic principles and goals of NIE Week - helping students to learn about and with the newspaper.
"Newspapers Now" extends the "connections" idea of the 2008 NIE Week theme. The goal is for students to realize that newspapers can have an impact on their lives today. While activities address comprehension and research skills, the focus is on the value of newspaper content.
You'll be able to download the files from our site directly to your computer -- no CDs to order as in past years.
NIE Week is always the first full school week of March. In 2009, it's March 2-6.
